Online spending on Cyber Monday surpassed $1 billion, setting the record for single-day online spending. comScore (NASDAQ : SCOR), a leader in measuring the digital world, reported the spending up by 16% from last year. Black Friday in-store sales were up slightly, as people spent $10.69 billion on November 26th; with online spending for that day coming in at $648 million.
It leaves us guessing…is the economic situation as bad as everyone is to believe, or are people just taking advantage of sales and huge discounts. We will have to check back at the end of the holiday shopping season for the final result, but it appears early on, that 2010 will exceed all previous years.
Mobile commerce on eBay for Cyber Monday saw a 146% increase year-over-year. Consumer adoption of mobile commerce has increased with ease-of-access, as well as QR and scan-able codes used with more frequency.
We fully expect this pattern in Mobile to continue. Any thoughts?
